Srinagar, Jan 7: Peoples Conference Chairman and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone on Tuesday delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the reservation policy in J&K from his Handwara office.

The presentation has since sparked wide discussion and appreciation on social media, as per KNS. Lone explained the existing reservation framework and its implications for open merit based candidates. Short clips from the presentation were shared widely online and drew reactions cutting across political and ideological lines.

A research scholar, while sharing the video, said informed discussion on the reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir is essential to build consensus on a reasonable solution. The scholar said the issue threatens the careers of several thousand deserving candidates and needs serious academic engagement rather than emotional debate.

A senior journalist commented that Sajad Gani Lone is among the few politicians who depend on academic research while addressing complex policy issues. The journalist said people may disagree with Lone’s views, but his reliance on data and research sets him apart from rhetoric driven politics, as per KNS.

Observers said the presentation injected clarity into a sensitive and long pending debate. They noted that the structured and data driven approach helped simplify a complicated subject and encouraged constructive dialogue instead of political polarisation.

Political analysts said the public response to the presentation reflects a growing demand for evidence based policymaking. They added that the reservation issue requires a careful balance between social justice and merit, and informed interventions can help chart a sustainable way forward. The presentation continues to circulate widely on social media, keeping the reservation debate firmly in public focus.
