Srinagar: Reacting sharply to the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s decision to assume control of 215 schools allegedly affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and its subsidiary Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT), People’s Conference Chairman and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone accused the administration of “shamelessness” and “servility.”

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Lone said the forcible takeover of these schools has exposed the role of the elected government, which he claimed was fully complicit in passing the order. “Shame and shamelessness have assumed new meanings in this government. They are setting new standards in servility,” Lone remarked as per Alfaaz – The Words, recalling what he described as the very sermons and edicts that the ruling party had once directed against its political opponents.

Lone further warned people against living under “illusions,” asserting that the present elected government was a party to “all acts undertaken,” including the mailing of notices or termination of employees. “They have been equal partners in the past. And they will be equal partners in the future,” he said, dubbing the ruling government as the “A team” which had always been “the A team.”

The remarks come as government issued orders to district administrations to take over 215 schools across Jammu and Kashmir, citing their affiliation with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami and FAT.
