Sainik School Nagrota cadets take ‘Green pledge’

Nagrota, Aug 3: Sainik School Nagrota Sunday celebrated Van Mahotsava-2025 with a spirited plantation drive aimed at fostering environmental consciousness among cadets.

The event highlighted the school’s commitment to sustainability and nature conservation.

Shashikant Lakhanpal, general secretary, Arogya Bharti, and Dr Yashpal Sharma, Director, Arogya Bharti were present at the event along with Neeraj Gupta, Range Officer, District Social Forestry and officials from the Forest department and the department of Ayush.

“Cadets, guided by the guests and staff, planted saplings across the campus, symbolizing their pledge to protect and nurture the environment. Over 500 saplings were planted across the school campus, including a vibrant mix of flowering plants, fruit-bearing trees, and medicinal species, reflecting a thoughtful approach to biodiversity and sustainability,” PRO Defence Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said.

Principal Captain Shibu Devasia expressed his gratitude to the Forest department for its support and encouraged cadets to care for the saplings as a lifelong responsibility.

He also appreciated the presence of dignitaries from Arogya Bharti whose support further motivated the cadets in their environmental endeavour.

The event also featured nature-themed poems by cadets, adding a creative voice to the green cause.

“Van Mahotsava 2025 at Sainik School Nagrota stood as a living example of discipline, responsibility, and eco-conscious leadership in action,” Lt Col Bartwal said.
