Srinagar, Jul 26: National Conference (NC) General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar Saturday reiterated Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s call for a transparent, time-bound investigation into the killing of a youth at Nikki Tawi in Jammu.
A statement of the NC issued here said that during a public meeting at the NC’s Nawa-e-Subha party headquarters in Srinagar, Sagar joined the chorus with other party functionaries in seconding CM Omar’s call for a transparent, time-bound inquiry into the killing of Muhammad Parvez at Niki Tawi in Jammu.
He termed the incident “deeply unfortunate and regrettable,” stressing that the use of force by law enforcement must be responsible and proportionate.
Reiterating the need for accountability, Sagar supported the call for a transparent and time-bound investigation.
He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace for the departed soul.
“Incidents like these have caused lasting damage in the past. We cannot afford a repeat,” Sagar said.
He also met a number of delegations that raised issues ranging from civic concerns to development-related grievances.
Sagar assured them of timely resolution and promised to take up the matters with the relevant departments.
As part of the ongoing outreach initiative by the NC, the party is actively engaging with the public at the grassroots level to understand and address their concerns.
Senior leaders and cabinet ministers are holding regular public interactions across the region to ensure that voices from every corner are heard and responded to.
Provincial President, Kashmir, Showkat Mir, and NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar were also present on the occasion.
