SRINAGAR: Srinagar MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Thursday dismissed Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary’s recent suggestion that he should raise his voice in Parliament instead of seeking the limelight, saying his politics is rooted in principles rather than a pursuit of power.
Speaking with reporters, Ruhullah said that those who lack discipline, honesty, loyalty, and principles in their political conduct are “not even worthy of a response”.
“The Deputy CM left the PDP, yet he lectures me on principles and party. My fight is for principles, not for the chair. I have not changed my party or my stand for the sake of the chair,” he said.
He recalled that just two years ago, the Deputy CM was not part of the National Conference and had oscillated between political formations. “Sometimes with the BJP, sometimes with the PDP. Wherever he gets the chair and opportunity, he goes there,” Ruhullah said.
He added that such political behaviour reflects an absence of values and direction. “My politics and my efforts are based on principles. If I have expressed disagreement with the party, it is only on principle, not for the chair,” he said.
