RSS to focus on building social harmony: Mengi

Jammu, Mar 24: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Prant Sanghchalak Dr Gautam Mengi on Tuesday asserted that in the centenary year of the RSS, efforts to expand outreach to different sections of society, initiate dialogue, strengthen participation would be intensified with a focus on establishing social harmony.

He asserted that along with organisational expansion, the RSS was also working towards qualitative improvement in society.

“Through the initiative of ‘Panch Parivartan’, society is being inspired towards positive transformation. Indianness or Hindutva is not merely an idea but a way of life, through which noble values should be spread in society. To achieve this objective, it is necessary to organise and unite the virtuous elements of society and activate them in the national interest,” he reiterated.

Dr Mengi, joined by Prant Seh Sanghchalak Vikrant Sharma, in a press conference at conference hall, Kargil Sabhagar in Ambphalla Jammu, was delineating the deliberations made during three-day meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, held from March 13 to 15 at Samalkha in Haryana.

He pointed out that the discussions covered significant issues including the expansion of organisational work, active participation of the virtuous forces of society in national interest, and social harmony.

Dr Mengi quoted the statement of Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale made on the occasion of the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Satguru Shri Ravidasji, emphasising that at a time when various divisive forces were attempting to fragment society on the basis of class and caste, it was essential to understand the essence of his (Sant Ravidas Ji’s) life, message and resolve to work towards social unity.

He informed that in the coming year various programmes would also be organised on the occasion of the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Ravidasji.

Dr Mengi revealed that over the past year, the organisational work of the RSS expanded significantly across the country and the trend was similar in Jammu and Kashmir region as well.

“Compared to last year, the number of branches in the region has increased from 678 to 735 and Sangh mandalis are active at 407 locations,” he said and alse gave a detailed account of major programmes organised in J&K to mark the centenary year of the RSS.

He mentioned that in this connection, a prominent public gathering was organised at the Convention Centre, which was addressed by Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale as the chief speaker.

“As part of the centenary year, a ‘Griha Sampark Abhiyan’ (home outreach campaign) was conducted in Jammu and Kashmir from November 2 to 30, 2025, during which contact was established with over 4,93,065 families. More than 11,000 workers participated in this campaign,” Dr Mengi informed.
