SRINAGAR: The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag, acting as Adjudicating Officer under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, has imposed penalties totalling Rs 3.05 lakh on several Food Business Operators (FBOs) for violations of food safety regulations.

Officials said the fines were levied after adjudication of multiple cases involving non-compliance with provisions related to food safety standards, labelling norms, hygiene practices and licensing requirements under the Act and the Food Safety and Standards Rules and Regulations, 2011.

The action followed complaints and inspection reports submitted by Food Safety Officers during routine surveillance and enforcement drives across the district.

During the proceedings, the Adjudicating Officer stressed that maintaining the safety and quality of food products is a shared responsibility and warned that strict enforcement measures would continue against violators to protect public health.

Authorities have also advised all Food Business Operators to strictly comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and related regulations to avoid further penal action.
