The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released a short notification for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) under Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 01/2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 11,127 vacancies across various railway zones in India.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must fulfill the following educational requirements:

• Matriculation / SSLC from a recognized board.
• ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in relevant trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic Diesel etc.
• OR Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile.

Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 Years
• Maximum Age: 30 Years

Age relaxation will be provided to reserved categories as per government rules.

RRB ALP Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of multiple stages:

1. CBT-1 (Computer Based Test – Screening Test)
2. CBT-2 (Computer Based Test)
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
4. Document Verification
5. Medical Examination

The final merit list will be prepared based on CBT-2 Part A marks and the CBAT score.

RRB ALP Salary 2026

Selected candidates will receive salary under Level-2 of the 7th Pay Commission.

• Basic Pay: ₹19,900 per month

The overall salary package becomes significantly higher with allowances.
