Rotten Meat Seized in Central Kashmir, Restaurants Fined, Booked

SRINAGAR: Budgam Police in coordination with the Food Safety Department conducted a market checking drive in the Pakherpora area and registered an FIR after seizing rotten meat from two restaurants.

The drive was supervised by DO Pakherpora PSI Aarif Mushtaq along with Food Safety Officer Charar-i-Shareif. Several establishments were inspected during the operation, and multiple violations of food safety and hygiene standards were detected. Fines were imposed on restaurant owners and other food business operators found guilty of non-compliance.

Police confirmed that FIR No. 67/2025 under sections 271 and 275 BNS has been registered at Police Station Charar-i-Shareif against two restaurants, New Arabian Nights and Shahi Darbar, for serving rotten meat and maintaining unhygienic conditions that posed a risk to public health.

Authorities have warned all traders and food business operators to adhere strictly to prescribed food safety guidelines. Police further stated that strict action will continue against violators to ensure public safety. [KNT]
