
Srinagar, Apr 12: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) on Sunday registered a commanding 6-2 victory over Gokulam Kerala FC in a crucial Indian Football League (IFL) match at TRC Ground, Srinagar.
The match, as per a statement, witnessed an electrifying atmosphere, with a large number of fans turning up to support the home side. Despite the strong backing, it was Gokulam Kerala FC that opened the scoring, taking an early lead in the match. RKFC, however, responded quickly and found the equaliser, with both teams level at 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half, RKFC displayed complete dominance and attacking intent. The home side scored two quick goals to take a 3-1 lead, much to the delight of the cheering crowd. Gokulam Kerala FC managed to pull one back, making it 3-2 until the 80th minute and keeping the contest alive.
However, RKFC shifted momentum in the closing stages and scored another goal to extend their lead. The hosts faced a setback when their player Hyder received a red card, reducing the team to 10 men. Despite this, RKFC maintained control of the match.
Head coach Ishfaq Ahmad’s timely substitutions proved effective as RKFC capitalised in extra time, scoring two more goals to seal a comprehensive 6-2 win.
RKFC owner Arshad Shawl continuously supported the team from the sidelines and later presented the man of the match award.
RKFC will play their next match on April 19 at the same venue.
