Revised School Timings Expected Across Kashmir from Monday

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Education Department is set to revise school timings across the Kashmir division starting Monday.

As per the new schedule, schools located within the Srinagar Municipal limits will function from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Schools outside the municipal limits and in other districts will operate from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The change comes in response to concerns raised over the early morning school hours, particularly for younger students. “We will change the timing of schools from Monday. The current timing is difficult for small children,” the minister told Greater Kashmir. She also noted that the weather conditions have improved significantly, with a drop in temperature following recent rainfall.

Earlier, schools within municipal areas operated from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, while those in rural areas functioned from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. These timings were implemented following the reopening of schools after a 15-day summer break.

The minister also indicated that school timings may be revised again later in the year, taking into account the early winter weather conditions.
