SRINAGAR: The remains of a shell that exploded in Dal Lake during Operation Sindoor in May were discovered on Saturday during a cleaning drive, officials confirmed, as reported by The Hindu.

Teams from the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) recovered the debris from the water body and handed it over to the nearest police station for examination and further action.

On 10 May, a missile-like object had plunged into Dal Lake, a prime tourist destination in Srinagar, following loud explosions that sent smoke rising from the surface. Security forces later retrieved the debris. Another suspected object was recovered the same day from Lasjan on the city’s outskirts, after multiple blasts were reported.

Operation Sindoor was India’s military response to Pakistan following the 22 April Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives.
