New Delhi, Jul 29: Telecom major Reliance Jio has launched a subscription-based cloud personal computer service, enabling users to convert their televisions into AI-ready PCs using a Jio set-top box.
According to information available on the company’s website, the JioPC subscription starts at Rs 599 per month (excluding GST). An annual plan is also available for Rs 4,599 (excluding GST), effectively bringing the cost down to around Rs 383 per month.
The service is currently accessible to JioFiber and Jio AirFiber users through the JioPC app listed in the set-top box’s app section. Users will need a keyboard and mouse to operate the system.
The JioPC offers users a virtual desktop with 8GB RAM and 100GB of cloud storage. Additionally, subscribers gain access to Adobe Express, a popular design and editing tool, as part of Jio’s partnership with Adobe. “JioPC is built for India’s fast-growing digital economy — from solopreneurs and side hustlers to school-going children,” a company source said.
The subscription also includes access to key AI tools, essential productivity applications, and up to 512GB of cloud storage. New users can avail of a one-month free trial, which includes access to Jio Workspace, Microsoft Office (browser version), and full cloud storage features.
The service aims to provide an affordable, flexible computing solution for users who may not own traditional laptops or desktops, while leveraging the widespread availability of smart TVs and Jio’s broadband infrastructure.
