Srinagar, Aug 10: Riding on goals from Salam Ranjan Singh, Tareck, and M. Mbengue, Real Kashmir FC (RKFC) defeated Neroca FC 3–1 on Sunday in their Durand Cup clash at Imphal, keeping their hopes alive for a quarter-final berth.

The victory lifted RKFC to second place in Group F with four points, level with leaders Indian Navy but behind on goal difference.  Only the group toppers are assured of a place in the last eight, while two of the six second-placed teams across the groups will also advance. RKFC’s fate now rests on the outcome of the final group game between Indian Navy and TRAU FC.

The Indian Navy lead with a superior goal difference, while TRAU FC sit at the bottom with two points. Should TRAU hold or defeat the Navy, RKFC’s chances of progression will brighten. In their previous fixture, RKFC overcame TRAU FC, showing similar attacking flair.

Founded with the aim of promoting football in the Valley, Real Kashmir FC is owned by Arshad Shawl, with former India international player Ishfaq Ahmad serving as head coach.

The squad features a mix of local, national, and foreign players, offering a professional platform to Kashmiri youth and earning a growing fan base for their spirited performances.
