SRINAGAR: Passengers travelling by train can now order food directly to their seats through the RailOne app, with the service integrated with food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy, officials said.
The facility has been introduced under the e-catering service of Indian Railways to make train journeys more convenient for passengers.
Under the new system, passengers can use the RailOne super app to book tickets, check train status and order meals from restaurants available on Zomato and Swiggy.
The service has been introduced at key railway stations in the Jammu division, including Jammu Tawi Railway Station, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station and Pathankot Railway Station.
Passengers travelling through these stations can place food orders from their seats or berths using the app. The ordered meals will be delivered directly to their seats on the train, removing the need for passengers to get down at stations to buy food.
Officials said the platform integrates several railway services in a single application. Apart from ticket booking and train tracking, passengers can use their PNR number to log in and place food orders through the linked delivery platforms.
The system tracks the train’s schedule and coordinates the delivery so that the food reaches passengers at the designated station when the train arrives.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Jammu division, Udit Singhal, said the initiative is aimed at improving passenger convenience during train journeys.
He said the integration of ticket booking, live train tracking and food delivery services on a single platform is intended to provide passengers with a unified digital solution for railway services.
Singhal also urged passengers to make use of the app instead of downloading multiple applications for different railway-related services.(KNS).
