
SRINAGAR: Authorities in Shopian on Friday attached a residential property allegedly built using proceeds from drug trafficking, as part of an intensified crackdown on narcotics-related offences in the district.
Police said the double-storey house, valued at Rs 2305244 and constructed on 6 marlas of land under Survey No. 1169 min in Hermain, belongs to Mohd Rafiq Ganie. The accused has been booked in multiple NDPS cases, including FIR No. 26/2020 at Police Station Shopian and FIR No. 85/2022 at Police Station Heerpora.
Officials said the property was identified as having been acquired from money generated through the illegal sale of drugs. The attachment was carried out in the presence of a police team, an Executive Magistrate, Lambardar and Chowkidar, in line with legal procedures.
Police said the action reflects its ongoing efforts to dismantle the financial networks of drug peddlers. The department urged the public to share information about narcotics-related activities to strengthen the campaign against drug abuse in the district.
