SRINAGAR: President Droupadi Murmu has honored the Rajouri district of Jammu Kashmir for its excellent work under the Jal Sanchay–Jan Bhagidari initiative, a nationwide programme that encourages community-led water conservation and smart use of natural resources.
The award places Rajouri among the top-performing districts in the country for promoting water-saving methods, involving local people in decision-making, and protecting the environment for the long term.
Officials said Rajouri’s success came from the joint efforts of the district administration, local communities, panchayats, and government departments.
The district introduced new watershed management techniques and ran awareness drives to motivate people to save water.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha congratulated the Deputy Commissioner and the entire Rajouri administration for the achievement.
The Deputy Commissioner thanked the President for the honour and said the administration would continue to strengthen community-led water conservation initiatives. (KINS)
