SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across parts of Srinagar, Kupwara, and Ganderbal districts to facilitate utility shifting and infrastructure works.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the shutdowns are required for shifting utilities under the Comprehensive Sewerage Scheme (Zone III) of Greater Srinagar and for ongoing road and infrastructure projects.
Srinagar Shutdown (July 12, 15 and 19):
To enable work at Dr Ali Jan Road and Wanganpora link road near the Sewerage Treatment Plant, the 33KV lines—Khanyar, Baghi Ali Mardan Khan Takanwari, Kawadara Mughal Masjid, and SH Pora—will remain off.
As a result, 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Khanyar, Rainawari, Takanwari, SH Pora, Shereen Bagh, MR Gunj, Kawdara, and Mughal Masjid will be shut, affecting power supply to the following areas from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM on July 12, July 15 and July 19:
Miskeen Bagh, Rosebal, Hazaribagh, Kondebal, Hasanabad, Jogi Lankar, Palpora, Sangam, JLNM Hospital, Fatehkadal, Khayam, Khankahi Mohalla, Jamallatta, Nawabazar, Zainakadal, Firdous Colony, Zaldagar, Nowhatta, Nawa Kadal, MR Gunj, Zadibal, Kaksarai and adjoining areas.
Kupwara Shutdown (July 10 and 14):
In connection with road works on the Rafiabad–Kupwara–Chowkibal–Tanghdar National Highway being carried out by BEACON, the 33KV Kupwara HOT line will be shut, resulting in the outage of Receiving Stations at Drugmulla, Tikker, and Galizoo.
Power supply to Drugmulla, Arampora, Kupwara Town, Baterga, Gulgam, DC Office Complex, and nearby areas will remain affected from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM on July 10 and July 14.
Ganderbal and Bandipora Shutdown (July 13 to 22):
To carry out electrical utility shifting for the proposed Ring Road, shutdowns of multiple 33KV lines will be observed:
KPDCL has appealed to the public for cooperation during the scheduled shutdown periods and stated that power supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the work.
