Sogam: Police Station Sogam on Saturday organized a one-day legal awareness programme focused on the newly adopted criminal laws in the country.
The event, held under the supervision of DySP Lolab Javid Ahmad and in coordination with the Station House Officer (SHO) Sogam Javid Jan, saw active participation of 45 to 50 students from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sogam and community members.
The programme aimed to promote legal literacy among the youth, particularly young women, by familiarizing them with the recent amendments in the Indian criminal justice system.
During the session, participants were briefed on the key provisions, significance, and impact of the new laws, with a special focus on ensuring justice, transparency, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
Adding an interactive and empowering element, several girl students symbolically assumed roles such as Station House Officer (SHO) and other key police positions. This initiative offered them a practical perspective on law enforcement responsibilities and aimed to inspire leadership and civic engagement.
The event included interactive sessions with the SHO and other police personnel, fostering dialogue between the police and students. The school administration and participants appreciated the engaging and informative nature of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasized the need for legal awareness in an evolving legal framework, particularly for the younger generation. The programme concluded on a positive note, with students expressing a newfound appreciation for law enforcement and the importance of staying informed about legal rights and responsibilities.
