Police Seize Four Vehicles for Illegal Mining in Ganderbal

SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, in close coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, seized four vehicles (03 Tipper and 01 Tractor) engaged in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

A senior police officer said the seized vehicles, illegally loaded with minerals extracted from Nallah Sindh, were intercepted within the jurisdiction of PS Lar, PS Safapora and PP Shadipora. The registration numbers of the seized vehicles are JK02F-3654, JK02W-9240, JK04-6997 and JK16-3011.He said this decisive action underscores the strong commitment of JK Police and the Geology and Mining Department in curbing the menace of illegal mining. By ensuring that violators are brought under the ambit of law, the police aim to protect the district’s natural resources and maintain environmental balance.

Police appealed community members to extend their cooperation by sharing any information regarding such unlawful activities in their areas, and assured complete confidentiality of the informants, besides reiterated its resolve to take strict legal action against those indulging in illegal mining.
