
Srinagar, Feb 20: In its continued drive against illegal mining and unauthorized extraction of minerals, Jammu and Kashmir Police alongwith the officials of the Geology and Mining Department conducted enforcement actions at different locations in the district Baramulla.
J&K Police in Baramulla seized one JCB and a tipper bearing registration number JK01AJ-5036 for illegally extracting and ferrying soil from the Authoora area of Kreeri. The action was taken by Police Station Kreeri during routine checking and patrolling in the area. Upon inspection, the vehicles were found involved in unauthorized extraction and transportation of soil, in violation of the relevant provisions of law. Accordingly, the vehicles have been seized and necessary legal action has been initiated under the provisions of the MMDR Act and the Motor Vehicles Act.
J&K Police in coordination with the officials of the Geology and Mining Department conducted enforcement actions at different locations in the district. During checking at Fresthar Nala, a tractor bearing Engine No. NKA2UDE0118 was seized while engaged in illegal extraction of minerals. The vehicle was being driven by Sajad Ahmad Ganie son of Gh. Rasool Ganie resident of Fresthar. In another action at Dargam, a tractor bearing Registration No. JK22C-5220, driven by Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat resident of Wanigam Bala, was seized for transporting illegally extracted minerals. In both instances, necessary action has been initiated under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act).
J&K Police reiterated its firm commitment to curb illegal mining activities and appealed to the general public to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities in their respective areas.
