
SRINAGAR: Police in Pulwama have arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 16.5 kilograms of a charas powder–like substance during a checkpoint operation, marking another significant seizure in the district’s continuing anti-narcotics crackdown.
According to officials, a police team at a checkpoint in Newa Pulwama intercepted an individual identified as Rafiq Ahmad Shah, son of Bashir Ahmad Shah and a resident of Newa. A search led to the recovery of the contraband, following which he was taken into custody on the spot.
Police have registered a case at the Police Station Pulwama. Investigation into the source, network, and intended distribution of the seized substance is currently underway.
