SRINAGAR: Police in Anantnag have successfully recovered a lost bag containing Rs 40,000 in cash and important documents belonging to an elderly Amarnath Yatra pilgrim.

According to officials, Police Post Nunwan received a report about the missing bag from a distressed elderly pilgrim at the Nunwan base camp. The bag reportedly held a significant amount of money, around Rs 40,000, along with essential personal documents.

Acting immediately on the information, police personnel launched a meticulous search operation across the camp. The bag was soon located in a corner of the Nunwan camp premises. Upon inspection, the full amount of cash and all documents were found intact.

After verifying ownership, the police formally handed over the recovered bag to the pilgrim against a proper receipt.

The swift response and honest conduct of the police personnel have earned appreciation from fellow pilgrims and the public alike. Authorities said such actions reinforce the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensuring the safety, trust and well-being of pilgrims during the annual Yatra.

The ongoing Amarnath Yatra has seen significant footfall this year, with security, medical, and support arrangements heightened across all routes and base camps.
