Police Nab Two Drug Peddlers in Separate Raids

SRINAGAR: Police in Shopian arrested two drug peddlers in separate operations on Sunday, recovering nearly one kilogram of charas from their possession.

According to officials, a police team from Police Post Keegam, during a checkpoint operation at Marhenz Chowk, intercepted a suspect identified as Zubair Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sunsamil Pulwama. Upon searching him, the police recovered 500 grams of charas.

In a separate operation at Zainapora Nagard Axis, another police party apprehended a drug peddler identified as Suhail Ahmad Dar, a resident of Wadina Zainapora. Around 480 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from him.

Police said that separate cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and further investigation is underway.

Reiterating its commitment to a drug-free society, the Jammu and Kashmir Police appealed to the public to cooperate in eradicating drug menace by sharing any information related to drug abuse or peddling with the nearest police station.
