
Kangan, Mar 13: Police on Friday inaugurated the Police Martyrs’ Volleyball Tournament at Chattergul in Kangan area of Ganderbal district under the Civic Action Programme.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by SDPO Kangan Rajeev Raina, accompanied by SHO Kangan Younis Ahmad Khan who graced the occasion as the chief guests.
On the occasion, SDPO Kangan highlighted the importance of sports in channelising the energy of youth towards constructive activities and keeping them away from social evils. He also paid rich tributes to the brave Police Martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the peace and security of the nation.
A total of 16 teams from Sub-Division Kangan are participating in the tournament, making the event a vibrant platform for young players to showcase their talent and sportsmanship. Local youth, sports enthusiasts and members of the community attended the inauguration ceremony and appreciated the initiative of Police for organising such events to encourage healthy competition and foster stronger community bonds.
