SRINAGAR: Police in Pulwama arrested two long-term absconders in separate operations on Monday, continuing their drive to trace and detain individuals evading the legal process for years.
Officials said that Kakapora Police arrested Nazir Ahmad Dar, known as Rustum, son of Abdul Salam Dar of Katibugh Kakapora. He had been declared a proclaimed offender by the Court of JMIC Pulwama in a case registered under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Officers said Dar had been avoiding arrest for a prolonged period before being traced and produced before the court.
In a separate operation, Rajpora Police apprehended Shabir Ahmad Gorsi, son of Balya Gorsi of Zampathri Keller, Shopian. Gorsi had been wanted for nearly 25 years in FIR No. 31/1996 under Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act. He was presented before the concerned court after his arrest, police said.
Authorities stated that the arrests reflect the continuing efforts of J and K Police to ensure absconders and proclaimed offenders are brought to justice. They added that similar operations will continue to ensure no individual evades the law.
