PM Package Transit Accommodation Projects in Anantnag Near Completion | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Construction of transit accommodation complexes for employees under the Prime Minister’s Package in Anantnag district is nearing completion, with most of the residential blocks at Machbawan, Rambirpora and Shangus already achieving over 80 to 90 per cent progress, officials said.

According to official figures, the Machbawan project, comprising 15 residential blocks, has achieved about 92 per cent physical progress in construction, while allied works such as water supply and electricity infrastructure have reached around 50 per cent completion. The project has so far recorded an expenditure of about Rs 32 crore on construction and Rs 3 crore on allied works, with completion expected by October 2026. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) amounting to Rs1.5 crore has also been prepared for the construction of an approach road to the complex.

At Rambirpora, 21 residential blocks have reached about 94 per cent physical completion, while allied works have progressed to nearly 65 per cent. Officials said Rs 46 crore has been spent on construction and Rs3.9 crore on allied works so far, with the project also expected to be completed by October 2026.

Similarly, the Shangus transit accommodation project, comprising 20 residential blocks, has achieved about 81 per cent physical progress in construction and around 45 per cent progress in allied works. The expenditure incurred so far stands at Rs 42 crore on construction and Rs3.45 crore on allied works.

Officials said necessary arrangements for essential facilities, including water supply and electricity, are being put in place to ensure the complexes are fully functional once completed.

The projects are part of the government’s initiative to provide secure residential accommodation with essential utilities and amenities to employees posted in the district under the Prime Minister’s Package.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat visited the construction sites at Machbawan, Rambirpora and Shangus to review the pace of work and directed executing agencies to expedite the remaining works to ensure timely completion and allotment of the residential quarters.
