PM Modi distributes 51,000 job letters, says common goal of fresh recruits is national service

Prasada hands over 237 appointment letters in Jammu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth in various Government departments and organizations via video conferencing including Jammu and emphasized that despite different roles, the common goal of fresh recruits is national service, guided by the principle of ‘Citizen First’.

Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh coordinated the programme while Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industries and Electronics & Information Technology Jitin Prasada physically distributed job letters among 237 youth in Jammu.

In his virtual address to newly appointed youth, the Prime Minister emphasized that today marks the beginning of new responsibilities for these youth in different departments of the Government of India. “Their common goal is national service, guided by the principle of Citizen First,” he added.

“India, with the world’s largest youth population and the largest democracy, holds unique potential to shape the future both domestically and on the global stage,” he said and noted that this vast youth power is India’s greatest capital, and the Government is steadfast in its efforts to convert this capital into a catalyst for long-term prosperity.

Modi said the agreements signed during his recent tour of countries will benefit Indian youth both within the country and abroad.

Emphasizing the importance of innovation, startups, and research, he spoke of the growing ecosystem in India that empowers young people to dream big. He shared his personal pride and confidence in the new generation, expressing joy at seeing youth stepping forward with ambition, vision, and a strong desire to create something new.

Modi stated that the Government of India is also focusing on creating new employment opportunities in the private sector. Recently, the government has approved a new scheme called the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme. Under this scheme, the Government will provide Rs 15,000 to young individuals who get their first job in the private sector.

“In other words, the Government will contribute to the first salary of their first job. For this, the Government has allocated a budget of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore. This scheme is expected to help in the creation of about 3.5 crore new jobs”, he added.

He said that in just the past ten years, 25 crore people have come out of poverty.

“Without employment opportunities, such a transformation would not have been possible. This is why today, major global institutions like the World Bank are praising India. India is now being counted among the top nations in the world with the highest levels of equality”, Modi stated.

The 16th Rozgar Mela was held at 47 locations across the country including Jammu.

The new recruits, selected from across the country, will be joining the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Labour & Employment among other departments and ministries.

Meanwhile, addressing the Rozgar Mela, Union Minister of State in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh said that India’s Startups have generated over 17 lakh jobs in the last 11 years, marking a remarkable shift in the nation’s employment landscape.

Dr Jitendra Singh credited the transformation to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose clarion call for Startups from the Red Fort in 2014 catalyzed a nationwide movement.

“From just 350 startups in 2014, India now boasts nearly 1.75 lakh registered startups, including over 11,000 in biotechnology and more than 300 in the space sector, rising from single digits a decade ago,” he said, adding that this growth has made India the 3rd largest startup ecosystem globally.

Highlighting the Rozgar Mela as a flagship initiative of the Government of India, Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that the 16th edition witnessed the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with more than 40,000 posts in Indian Railways alone. He emphasized that the Mela reflects the Government’s commitment to continuously harness and realize the potential of India’s youth.

The Union Minister shared that alongside appointment letters, the newly appointed youth will be given access to the Mission Karmayogi’s iGOT digital platform for continuous skill enhancement and training.

Reflecting on the last 11 years, Dr. Jitendra Singh said the period marked a paradigm shift in mindset among India’s youth, who are now more inclined to innovate, lead, and create rather than confine themselves to traditional job roles. This mindset shift, he noted, was strongly supported by the Government’s policies and flagship schemes like PM Mudra Yojana, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and the National Education Policy 2020

Dr. Jitendra Singh also highlighted the rise of women-led startups, calling them a game changer in India’s entrepreneurial landscape. “Over 50,000 women-led startups have emerged in the last 11 years, showcasing the true spirit of Nari Shakti and women’s empowerment,” he said.

He made a fervent appeal to the youth to channel their energies and aspirations towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, emphasizing that they will be the architects of India’s future.

Also present during the ceremony was Rachna Shah, Secretary, DoPT, who delivered the introductory remarks and reiterated the department’s commitment to facilitating transparent and timely recruitment across Central Government ministries.

Meanwhile, as many as 237 candidates were given appointment letters at a function in Jammu here as part of the ‘Rozgar Mela’

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, and Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada handed over the letters to the newly appointed youth in various Government departments and organizations, assuring the people of Jammu and Kashmir that Prime Minister Modi had a special priority for the region.

“I am here as part of the Prime Minister’s ‘Rozgar Mela’…I am witnessing more focus of the Modi Government on J&K which is his top priority,” Prasada told reporters after the employment fair, organized by Jammu division of the Northern Railway.

The Minister said that he had reviewed the functioning of the industries and IT departments with focus on employment generation and providing financial incentives to boost exports.

“We are planning to separately organize buyer-seller meets to facilitate export of locally manufacturing goods, focus on the Software Technology park to boost startups and provide ample opportunities to the unemployed youth,” Prasada said
