
SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday reiterated the government’s commitment to the overall development and welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir during an extensive tour of the Chanpora Constituency in Srinagar.
Accompanied by local legislator Mushtaq Ahmad Guroo and senior officials, the Deputy CM inspected several ongoing developmental projects, including the Community Centre in Hyderpora, Marriage Hall in Haranbal Natipora, the Bailey Bridge project at Chanpora, and widening of the Rawalpora–Mocho Road. He also reviewed progress on the Bund Road project from Chanpora to Natipora Junction and other works across the constituency.
While inspecting the Community Centre, Choudhary directed officers to submit a detailed report to ensure early resumption of work so that the facility can be dedicated to the public at the earliest. He also ordered utility shifting and removal of bottlenecks along Rawalpora–Mocho Road to enhance connectivity and road facilities.
On the Bailey Bridge project, the Deputy CM instructed concerned departments to initiate construction immediately to improve mobility for Chanpora residents. He further emphasised timely completion of all ongoing road projects, including Bund Road and Chanpora–Natipora Junction.
During his visit to Bagh-e-Mehtab, Choudhary inspected macadamisation works and assured strict action against sub-standard materials or any reported negligence. Various delegations also met the Deputy CM, appreciating his on-site inspections of ongoing development works.
The tour was attended by Chief Engineer RB Sushil Kumar, SEs from RB, SMC, Housing, and other senior departmental officers.
Choudhary stated that the Omar Abdullah-led government is focused on equitable and sustainable development, adding: “People will judge this government after our five-year report card.”
