Kupwara, Mar 23: The residents of Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have expressed strong resentment against authorities for failing to establish a fire service station in the area. They said that Langate comprises of dozens of villages with thousands of population but has been deprived of this basic and fundamental need.
Residents said that the nearest fire station happens to be at Handwara and at the time of any fire incident, they have to wait for hours for fire tenders to reach the spot
. Mohammad Ishaq, a local youth told Greater Kashmir that they have approached successive dispensations for establishment of a fire service station at Langate on numerous times but to no avail. He said that Langate being a Tehsil Headquarter has been left without fire service station which according to him was injustice with the people of Langate. The residents have appealed Director General Fire Service Jammu and Kashmir to establish a fire service station at Langate so that their genuine grievance is redressed.
