Pedestrian Killed, Driver Injured in Road Accident in North Kashmir – Alfaaz – The Words

Kupwara: One person was killed and another injured in a road accident at Sarkulli in the Kalaroos area of Kupwara district on Tuesday evening.

Eyewitnesses told Alfaaz – The Words, that the accident occurred when a load carrier (407), driven by Farooq Ahmad Khan, son of Habibullah Khan of Parraypora, Kalaroos, struck a pedestrian. The victim, identified as Mohammad Israel Chechi (50), son of Laldin and a resident of Sarkulli, sustained critical injuries and was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kupwara for treatment, where he later succumbed.

The driver of the vehicle was also injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at a medical facility. His condition is stated to be stable.

Confirming the incident, a police official said that a team reached the scene, and cognizance of the matter for necessary legal formalities.
