SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Waheed Para said on Friday that the party’s MLAs will vote in favour of National Conference (NC) candidates during the on-going Rajya Sabha elections.

Para stated that the decision came after the NC assured support for two key Assembly legislations, the Land Bill and the Daily Wagers Regularization Bill. The agreement is intended to safeguard public interests and ensure that the long-pending bills are passed without political obstruction.

“The PDP has decided to vote for the NC candidates as the party leadership was assured of support for the Land and Daily Wagers Bills in the Assembly,” Para said.

He also voiced support for clerics overseeing religious assets, asserting that mosques should remain under the supervision of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, whom he described as a widely respected spiritual authority in Kashmir.

Parra also condemned the arrest of Doda MLA Mehraj Malik, calling it “illegal and politically motivated,” and affirmed that the PDP will continue to demand his unconditional release.
