SRINAGAR: PDP president and Former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday visited Tabalground in Chattabal, Srinagar, where she appealed to the Army to release the ground for public use.
Responding to a request by local youth, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president urged the Army to dedicate the ground to the community. “Choking spaces for our young generation not only restricts their growth but also drives them into drug abuse and depression,” Mufti said, calling upon the Core Commander to take urgent action.
The ground, currently under Army control, has long been a demand point for residents who argue that it could serve as a vital space for sports and community activities. Locals accompanying Mufti reiterated that accessible playfields were necessary to keep young people engaged positively.
Mufti further stated that the government must prioritise the well-being of youth in the Valley by ensuring they have safe and open spaces to channel their energy productively.
