PDP ignored prisoners’ plight during its tenure: AIP

Srinagar, Dec 27: Senior Awami Itihaad Party leader and MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad on Saturday hit out at PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, accusing her of “hypocrisy” on the issue of Kashmiri prisoners.

Sheikh Khursheed said that during Mehbooba Mufti’s tenure in power with the BJP, the plight of Kashmiri prisoners was completely ignored. He alleged that instead of addressing injustices, then PDP-BJP government “oversaw large scale use of the Public Safety Act.”

He said it turned a blind eye to the suffering of people and prioritised issues which were not in the interest of public.
