Jammu: A Pakistani national was caught by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday night after he crossed the international border in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming he wanted to meet actress and social media influencer Avneet Kaur.
The man, identified as Siraj Khan, was intercepted by BSF personnel and later handed over to the RS Pura police in Jammu. According to police sources, only Rs 30 in Pakistani currency was recovered from him during the search.
During questioning, Khan told officials that he was a big fan of Avneet Kaur and crossed into Indian territory to meet her. The police, however, are not treating the matter lightly. His movements and background are now under detailed investigation by police and intelligence agencies.
“This could be a case of obsession, but border infiltration is a serious matter. Every aspect of his activities and background is being thoroughly checked,” a senior officer said.
This is not the first incident of illegal crossing reported this year. In May 2025, the BSF foiled an infiltration attempt in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district, shooting dead a Pakistani intruder who ignored warnings and continued advancing towards Indian territory.
Avneet Kaur, the actress at the centre of the case, is a household name with over 30 million Instagram followers. She began her career in 2010 with the dance reality show Dance India Dance Li’l Masters and later featured in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and other television programmes. She went on to act in popular serials like Meri Maa, Chandra Nandini and Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga.
She has also appeared in films including Mardaani, Qarib Qarib Single, Mardaani 2 and Tiku Weds Sheru. Her upcoming project Love in Vietnam is currently in the pipeline.
Police said further action against Siraj Khan will depend on the outcome of the investigation, but stressed that any unauthorised border crossing is treated as a matter of national security.
