SRINAGAR: After witnessing a brief slump in air operations following the Pahalgam attack earlier this year, Srinagar International Airport has recorded a slow but steady revival in both flight movements and passenger traffic during the month of June 2025.

According to figures, the airport handled a total of 1,537 flight movements, including arrivals and departures, and saw 2,05,110 passengers travelling through its terminals over the course of the month. This reflects a gradual return to normal operations.

The data shows that the revival in air traffic began gradually. On June 1, the airport recorded 36 flights with 5,965 passengers. By June 28, the number of flights increased to 60, with 10,331 passengers—the highest passenger count for any day in the month. Other key days included June 14 with 58 flights and 10,147 passengers; June 21 with 58 flights and 10,210 passengers; June 27 with 48 flights and 10,454 passengers; and June 30 with 56 flights and 9,570 passengers.

An official at Srinagar Airport said the figures indicate a consistent improvement in air traffic after the temporary dip caused by the Pahalgam terror attack. “The numbers in June reflect a return of passenger confidence and coordinated efforts to ensure smooth flight operations. We expect this trend to continue in the coming weeks,” the official said.

The increase in traffic has also been supported by the return of Hajj pilgrims, the summer tourism season, and airlines resuming regular flight schedules. With the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, officials expect the airport to witness continued high footfall in the weeks ahead. (KNO)
