SRINAGAR: To dismantle militant support structures, Srinagar Police on Wednesday carried out extensive raids at multiple locations across the city. The searches targeted residences of associates and overground workers linked with proscribed organisations, as part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Officials said that the coordinated operations were conducted across all zones of Srinagar, covering several police stations and posts, with assistance from the Special Operations Group (SOG) of District Police. Over 150 premises were searched during the action, which was supervised by senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The raids were conducted in accordance with legal procedure, in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses. Police sources said the objective was to recover incriminating material, including documents, digital devices, and other evidence relevant to ongoing investigations.

According to officials, the large-scale operation also formed part of an intelligence-driven initiative to pre-empt any attempts at reviving or sustaining militant activity within Srinagar. The action, they said, reflects the force’s commitment to dismantling the terror ecosystem and curbing unlawful activities across the city.

Police reaffirmed that strict legal measures will be taken against anyone found involved in aiding or abetting militant or anti-national activities. Srinagar Police reiterated its resolve to maintain peace, public order, and stability in the region. [KNT]
