Online classes only for 6th grade onwards, says School Education Department

Srinagar, July 07: School Education Department has issued clarification on online classes to be conducted from tomorrow after the end of summer vocations in Kashmir. The department stated that online classes will be held from sixth grade onwards after the dispersal of students from schools.

In case of municipal areas, the classes will start sharp at 12:30 PM till 2:00 PM s and in non-municipal areas classes will begin half an hour late, sharp at 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

According to a notification issued by School Education Department, “after the dispersal of students from schools, online classes (Blended Learning Mode) except those in Primary Grades (Classes 1st to 5th) shall be conducted from 12:30 PM till 2:00 PM in case of Municipal areas and from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM in case of non-municipal areas.”

The clarification came after the education minister, Sakina Itoo, in an exclusive conversation with Greater Kashmir stated earlier in the day that no extension has been granted in summer vacation and the schools will reopen on Tuesday (July 8). Adding, she had said, “but the students after reaching home will take one hour break and attend online classes for two hours,”

In this regard, the School Education Department clarified the timing and grades eligible for online sessions.
