Online Applications Open For 65 Vacancies

Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission has issued the notification for Prosecuting Officer posts in the Home Department. A total of 65 vacancies have been announced for law graduates who wish to work in a government legal position. The recruitment process will be carried out through the preliminary exam, main exam and personality test.

As per the details released, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law. The pay scale for these posts falls under Level 8 with a salary range between ₹47,600 and ₹1,51,100. Applicants should ensure that they meet the required eligibility conditions before applying. The preliminary examination is tentatively scheduled for 28 February 2026.

Interested candidates can submit their applications online from 15 November 2025. The last date for completing the online form is 14 December 2025. Applicants must keep their domicile certificate, educational documents and category certificates ready while applying online.

Vacancy Details:
This notification aims to fill 65 Prosecuting Officer posts in the Home Department. The category wise breakup includes 26 posts for OM, 5 for SC, 7 for ST-I, 7 for ST-II, 6 for RBA, 5 for OBC, 6 for EWS and 3 for ALC IB.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates interested in applying can check the eligibility criteria and other essential details. Applicants must be domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir. A Bachelor’s degree in Law is required. Candidates appearing in the final semester can apply but must submit proof of passing before the main examination. The upper age limit for OM candidates is 40 years as on 1 January 2025. Reserved category candidates can apply up to 43 years. The maximum age for PHC candidates is 42 years and for in service candidates the limit is 40 years.

How to Apply:
Applicants can apply online through the official JKPSC portal. They must complete the one time registration process, upload the required documents and submit the application form through the portal.

Application Fee:
Candidates must pay the application fee online as per their category. The fee for general category applicants is ₹1200. Reserved category candidates must pay ₹700 and PHC candidates are exempted from payment.

Selection Process:
The selection will be carried out in three stages. The preliminary exam will have two objective papers with a total of 400 marks. The main examination will be descriptive in nature with seven papers. This will be followed by the personality test for shortlisted candidates.
