
SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also Finance Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday participated in the pre-Budget consultations meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for stronger institutional support to address Jammu and Kashmir’s fiscal challenges.
“Chief Minister today participated in the pre-Budget consultations in New Delhi, chaired by the Union Finance Minister, and shared key perspectives and concerns of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for the Union Budget 2026–27. He emphasised the need for stronger institutional support to address Jammu and Kashmir’s fiscal challenges,” reads a post on the X handle of the Chief Minister’s Office.
The Union Budget for the financial year 2026–27 will be presented on February 1, 2026, which falls on a Sunday. This marks the first time in recent years that the Union Budget will be presented on a Sunday.
The budget of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be presented by the Chief Minister in the first week of February, during the session beginning on the 2nd of the month.
