
Jammu, Feb14: A two-week advanced course on counter-improvised explosive devices conducted by National Security Guard instructors concluded at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy in Udhampur on Saturday, officials said, aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel in handling IED threats.
SSP Benam Tosh, Deputy Director SKPAU presided over the valedictory ceremony, gave away certificates to the course participants and presented mementos to the NSG Instructors in the presence of Assistant Director (Outdoor), Pawan Sharma and other senior officers. Officers, officials belonging to Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) of all the Districts of Jammu and Kashmir Police Districts, GRP, PCR Jammu and PCR Kashmir participated in the important training programme.
The course was conducted by the expert team of instructors of NSG Training Centre Manesar, Haryana with the objective to enhance the operational capabilities of police personnel in dealing with IED-related threats and risks involved while conducting disposal of bombs, IEDs and other explosive substances.
The course provided comprehensive training to identify, detect, neutralize and dispose of bombs, IEDs found at any site besides post-blast investigation techniques and standard operating procedures (SOP).
The course also included practical demonstrations, hands-on exercises and simulated scenarios to equant the participants with the real-time operational skills.
The course was coordinated by Mohammad Akram, Lal Hussain and Magger Singh.
In his valedictory address, Deputy Director commended the NSG faculty for imparting high-quality professional training and appreciated the participants for their dedication and keen interest throughout the programme.
He said that such advanced training initiatives shall go a long way in strengthening counter-terrorism preparedness and ensuring public safety, especially in current emerging security challenges.
