SRINAGAR: The Northern Railway on Friday announced the operation of a special reserved train between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar on January 31 to facilitate passengers amid disruptions in air and road traffic due to inclement weather.

This is the third such service in quick succession, following the operation of similar special trains on January 27 and 28, which officials said ran with full capacity.

According to an official statement, the train (Number 04629) will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 10:30 AM and is scheduled to reach Srinagar at 1:30 PM, with an en route stop at Banihal station.

On its return journey, the special train (Number 04630) will depart from Srinagar at 3:00 PM on the same day, arriving at Katra by 6:00 PM.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Jammu) Uchit Singhal said, “This special reserved train is being operated once again on January 31 due to passenger demand and disruptions to road and air transport. The previous special trains ran with over 100 per cent occupancy.”

He added that these measures are enhancing the confidence of tourists and passengers in the railway system during the winter season in Kashmir.

Passengers can obtain further details from the official railway website, the helpline number 139, or through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES). (KNS)
