SRINAGAR: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, called on Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and briefed him on recently concluded Operation Mahadev. He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava, GOC of the Army’s 15 Corps.
During the meeting, the senior Army officers provided an overview of the high-stakes counter-terror operation conducted in the Dachigam forest area of Srinagar outskirts, which led to the elimination of three Pakistani terrorists allegedly involved in the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police for the successful execution of the operation under extremely difficult terrain and security conditions.
According to officials, Operation Mahadev was the result of sustained intelligence gathering and extensive search operations that had been ongoing for several months across South Kashmir and adjoining forest belts. Acting on technical intelligence, joint teams comprising men from the Army, CRPF, JK Police, and intelligence agencies were mobilized to the Dachigam forest region, where the terrorists were eventually cornered and killed.
