
SRINAGAR: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have solved a theft case involving a mobile shop in the Kunzar area, arresting the accused from Delhi and recovering a portion of the stolen property.
According to police, the case was registered at Police Station Kunzar following a complaint lodged on March 9, 2026, by Bilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Darhama. He reported that during the intervening night of March 7 and 8, unknown persons had stolen around 20 mobile phones, a laptop, and Rs 5,000 in cash from his shop located at Mohamadia Complex in Kunzar.
Subsequently, an FIR (No. 26/2026) was registered under relevant sections of law, and an investigation was launched.
During the course of the probe, police teams examined CCTV footage and analysed technical evidence, which led to the identification of the accused as Rahil Ahmad Reshi, a resident of Gonipora, Chanpora, Kunzar.
A police team was dispatched to Delhi, where the accused was apprehended. Officials said that 13 stolen mobile phones and one laptop were recovered from his possession at the time of arrest.
Further investigation is underway to recover the remaining stolen items.
Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
