North Kashmir: Fraudster Arrested After Years on the Run

SRINAGAR: Police in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have arrested a fraudster and proclaimed offender, Zubair Ahmad Ganie alias Pina alias Mansoor Ganie, son of Abdul Rashid Ganie, a resident of Rohama Rafiabad, who had been absconding for years.

The accused was wanted in multiple fraud and cheating cases and was facing 19 non-bailable warrants issued by various courts across Jammu and Kashmir, including Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, Srinagar and Kulgam.

Officials said Ganie had also been declared a proclaimed offender in four separate cases by different courts, including the Court of JMIC Dangiwacha, but continued to evade arrest despite repeated legal actions.

Police said the arrest brings an end to a long pursuit of a habitual offender and sends a strong message that no individual can escape the law indefinitely. “Strict action will continue against such offenders to uphold the rule of law and protect the public from fraudulent activities,” police added.
