SRINAGAR: The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Monday directed all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) across the Jammu Division to ensure strict safety measures before reopening schools in flood-affected areas.

According to a communique issued by DSEJ, no school building that has sustained structural damage, been submerged, or shows signs of risk shall be reopened until certified safe by competent authorities. The order stressed that the safety of students and staff must remain the highest priority.

The DSEJ further asked CEOs to coordinate with local administration, village leaders, and community organisations to arrange temporary learning spaces with essential facilities. Where school buildings remain unsafe or under repair, officials have been told to explore community infrastructure such as panchayat ghars and religious places, on a voluntary basis, to ensure classes continue without disruption.
