No Evidence Received Yet in Leh Violence Inquiry: Committee

SRINAGAR: The Judicial Inquiry Committee probing the September 24 Leh violence has renewed its appeal to the public to provide any evidence that could help establish the facts of the case.

Officials from the committee said that despite previous public notices, no statements, documents, audio or video recordings, or any other form of evidence have been submitted by individuals so far.

Emphasising the importance of public participation, the committee stated that local cooperation is vital to ensure a transparent and credible investigation. It urged anyone possessing reliable information or material evidence related to the incident to come forward at the earliest and assist in the ongoing inquiry.

The committee assured that all submissions will be handled with confidentiality and in accordance with legal procedures. It reiterated its commitment to uncovering the truth behind the September 24 violence and ensuring accountability through due process.

At least six people were killed when a protest in favour of the Sixth Schedule turned violent on September 24. (KNT)
