NIT Srinagar Rises to 32nd Rank in India Today’s 2025 Engineering College Rankings

SRINAGAR: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has been ranked 32nd among engineering colleges in India in the India Today Rankings 2025, moving up one place from last year’s 33rd position.

In the Government Engineering Colleges category, the institute retained its 23rd rank, while it climbed from 21st to 22nd among Top Technical Universities across the country.

The rankings reflect the institute’s overall performance across multiple parameters. NIT Srinagar scored 23 in Admissions & Student Quality and 23 in Placement & Career Progression, highlighting its strong academic intake and effective career support mechanisms. In other key areas such as research, infrastructure, and student development, the institute earned scores of 191.2, 190.2, 176.6, 92.6, and 184.9.

With a total score of 835.5 and a benchmark score of 533.7, the cumulative score stood at 1369.2, underlining the institute’s commitment to quality education and institutional growth.

Director of NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, described the ranking as a “proud moment” for the institute. “Over the past year, we have focused on enhancing laboratory infrastructure, updating curricula, and encouraging students to undertake innovative projects. These efforts, along with faculty participation in national and international research, have significantly contributed to our progress,” he said.

Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman stated that the rankings underscore the institute’s dedication to both academic and administrative excellence. “We aim to further streamline our systems and enhance support for students and faculty alike,” he noted, while also commending the NIRF team for their outstanding contributions.

Chairman of the NIRF cell, Prof. Babar Ahmad, emphasised that the recognition was a collective achievement. “This honour belongs to every student, teacher, and staff member at NIT Srinagar,” he said.

Dr. Vijay Kumar, NIRF Coordinator, added that the past year had seen several upgrades, including laboratory improvements and curricular reforms. “These efforts, along with focused faculty research, have helped secure this recognition,” he said.

He also extended his gratitude to the Director, Registrar, and the entire NIRF team, acknowledging the key contributions of Prof. Babar Ahmad and Junior Assistant Ajay Kumar for their dedicated coordination and data compilation during the ranking process.

The achievement further strengthens NIT Srinagar’s reputation as a centre of technical excellence and innovation in the region.
