Srinagar: Employees under the National Health Mission (NHM) have raised concerns over the delay in disbursing their monthly salaries, even though funds have reportedly been released to district authorities.

Muneer Andrabi, President of NHM employees, expressed frustration over the ongoing delay, saying, “We have been on the frontlines, performing our duties diligently even under challenging circumstances. Yet, our salaries remain unpaid, leaving many of us in financial distress.”

With the festive season approaching, Andrabi highlighted the urgency of the matter, “Diwali is around the corner, and our wages have been pending for over three months. The delay is causing severe hardship for employees and their families.”

Another NHM employee added, “There are days we struggle to even afford transport to reach our workplaces. Despite repeated appeals to authorities, our concerns have largely been ignored.”

The employees have formally appealed to the Secretary of Health and the Mission Director (MD) of NHM to personally intervene, investigate the cause of the delay, and ensure immediate payment. They questioned why salaries remain withheld despite district-level authorities having received the necessary funds.

Expressing hope for swift resolution, the employees urged the administration to act responsibly, stating, “We have stood firm during every health crisis. It is only fair that our dues are cleared without further delay.”

This growing unrest among NHM staff underscores the pressing need for timely salary disbursement to maintain morale and sustain frontline health services across the Union Territory.
