NH-44 Declared Unsafe, Traffic Suspended in Udhampur Sector

SRINAGAR: Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been completely halted after a portion of land on the upper side of the road caved in at Thard, Udhampur.

A traffic official said that the sinking of the stretch has rendered the highway unsafe for vehicular movement. Commuters have been urged to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the weather improves and the route is restored.

The administration has also cautioned people against paying heed to rumours and advised them to check the latest updates regarding road status only on the official Twitter handle and Facebook page of the Traffic Police. (KNC)
